How To Measure For Curtains

Decide on the style you want

Windowsill Curtains
These are shorter curtains and end at the windowsill. They are best suited to kitchens and bedrooms where windows tend to be elevated.

These curtains tend to be 0.5 inches above the windowsill.
Apron Curtains
These come down about four inches below your windowsill and have a more casual feel than windowsill curtains. They are great if you have a radiator under your window as they stop heat escaping out of the window.

These end 4 inches below the edge of the windowsill.

Floor-Length Curtains
These curtains drape down to the floor and are popular in living rooms where you have larger windows. They’re the easiest to maintain and to open and close.

These are 0.5 inches above the floor.
Puddle Curtains
These curtains ‘puddle’ on the floor and extend between 1-3 inches longer than floor length curtains. The result is a dramatic look that is effective in areas such as dining rooms and living rooms.

Minimum width for all type of curtains we have is 60 inches(5 feet).

Regular height for all curtains are 60 inches(5 feet), 84 inches(7 feet), 96 inches(8 feet), 108 inches(9 feet).

How to measure for Eyelet curtains

Step 1: How to work out the width

Measure the flat width between two rod supports(brackets). Please don’t consider the pleat. The extra pleat calculation & consumption we will take care.
Place the measuring tape from one end of your curtain rod to the other end. Only measure the area where curtains will be placed.
If the entered width is 130 inches, we will be providing 2 curtains of 130 inches each in Eyelet Curtains. Here the curtains will be flat.

Step 2: How to work out the height

Always measure from the top of the curtain pole considering 1.3 inches(amount of fabric above the eyelet hole).
If you decide on above-the-windowsill curtains, measure to your windowsill and deduct 0.5 inches.
For an apron drop, measure 4 inches to 6 inches below your windowsill.
For full-length curtains, measure to the floor and then deduct 0.5 inches.
For puddle curtains, measure to the floor and then add on 1-3 inches, depending on the effect you want to create.

Tips:

If you don’t have a curtain pole up yet, measure approx 6 inches above the window and use this as a guide for where the curtain track will be.
Mount the curtain rod higher than the window frame and extend it beyond the sides to create the illusion of taller ceilings, larger windows, and a wider window when curtains are open.
For a formal, elegant look, choose floor-length curtains that lightly touch the floor. For a casual, relaxed vibe, opt for curtains that hang just below the window sill.
Choose wider curtains that provide fullness when closed for a luxurious and elegant appearance. Ensure they can be fully drawn across the window for optimal light control and privacy.
Sheer curtains can be used as a lightweight option to allow natural light while maintaining privacy. Adding heavier curtains on top provides additional light control and insulation.
